Renowned musician Lydia Tár is days away from recording the symphony that will elevate her career. However, Lydia's elaborate facade begins to unravel, revealing dirty secrets and the corrosive nature of power.

With his fable of the star conductor who is intoxicated by her own genius, American director Todd Field (Little Children) deals with current perennial issues such as gender politics and abuse of power, and expands the #MeToo debate to include a female perpetrator. The film picks up steam after a wordy, demanding, yet already intriguing run-up, because at its center is a usually commanding and charismatic Cate Blanchett as a pace-setter. The final punchline, with which the heroine finds herself again at the end of her descent, is dramaturgically so discreetly laid out that it compels some reflection on the course of the entire plot. That's right!

Es ist lange her, dass ein Film, ein echter Autorenfilm, das Publikum so sehr begeistert hat, dass eine fiktive Figur so viel Begeisterung und so viele Kommentare ausgelöst hat.
