Bacon & God's Wrath
Sol Friedman, Canada, 2015o
At the age of 90, Razie Brownstone, the strictly Jewish raised grandmother of director Sol Friedman, wants to try bacon for the first time in her life. In conversation with her grandson, she hints at the tangible terror with which the orthodox rules of life were once enforced in her family - and how, with the help of Google, she lgot over faith at an advanced age.
Bacon & God's Wrath is a documentary portrait of Razie, who, at nearly 90, has always kept kosher. Now a nonbeliever, thanks to what she calls “the Google,” she plans to try bacon at a Toronto diner. As this film by Sol Friedman examines what it means to depart from long-held principles, it interweaves Razie’s musings with animation and other special effects – most creatively when it reveals that her offscreen interlocutor is a talking pig’s head.
