In March 1953 Josef Stalin lies dying. Behind the scenes, his followers and children put themselves in place, showing themselves without exception as worthy successors to the dictator in terms of unscrupulousness and underhandedness. The more badly than properly concealed intrigues lead to a mess in the innermost circle of power as well as throughout the country, with consequences that are as bloody as they are bizarre.
